Yoga Teacher Training Certification
Level One—200 hours

geoYoga is registered with Yoga Alliance as a 200 hour teacher training school

Who

George Hughes, ERYT, RYT-500, will guide you through various aspects of yoga including the physical practice (asana), teaching methods, breath (pranayama), meditation (dhyana), history, philosophy, anatomy, and other pieces of this ancient tradition.  Whether your intention is to teach yoga, or simply deepen your personal experience and understanding of yoga, this course will change your life. 

When  -  THE NEXT TRAINING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 2012. DATES WILL BE UPDATED SHORTLY

All 10 weekends* (Saturdays and Sundays) from Friday, March 2, 2012 to July, 2012:

March 2–4, 17–18 and 31, April 1, 21–22, and 28–29, May 5–6 and 19–20, June 2–3, and  23–24.  The final weekend will be July 7 and 8.

* Please note that the opening class for the program will be held on Friday evening, March 2, 2012.

Program fees 

$500 (non-refundable) deposit will confirm a space in the training program and is applied to the first payment. The following payment options are available:

Option 1: Payment in full of $2,000 by February 1 
Option 2: Payment in full of $2,200 by March 1 
Option 3: Two payments totaling $2,400 paid as follows: $1,200 by March 1; $1,200 by May 5 
Option 4: Four payments totaling $2,600 paid as follows: $1,000 by March 1; $600 by April 1;
$500 by May 1; $500 by June 1

Refund policy: If after the first weekend, you do not wish to continue the training, you will receive your payment back, minus the $500 deposit. After that, refunds are not available.

  • Thoroughly read all the information presented
  • Confirm that the training dates work with your schedule.
  • After registering you will receive a welcome letter with additional information such as directions, daily schedule, required texts, what to bring and other details.

If you are traveling from out of town, we have arranged for discounted lodging at the Clarion Inn, located just around the corner from geoYoga. Get details.

Who is this training for?

The practitioner who:

  • Feels called to teach, is already teaching, or wants to deepen their own practice

  • Is looking for a precise, anatomically consistent method of asana that is relational, respectful and responsive to the body's wisdom

Course intentions

  • Strengthen each student's cognitive and experiential understanding of yoga
  • Provide each student with the skills to transmit that experience to others
  • Create a learning environment that is safe, stimulating, enjoyable and meets the educational needs of each student

  • Support a lifetime of learning as a practitioner and teacher of yoga

Curriculum Content

  • Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Teaching Methods and Practice, Anatomy and Physiology, Philosophy, Yoga Lifestyle, Ethics, Yoga Nidra and Guided Relaxation.

Certification Criteria

To receive certification of completion, you must demonstrate the ability to competently teach a beginner's level yoga class. Every attempt will be made to give you effective mentoring. Throughout this course we will alert you to areas of study, practice, or performance that need effort on your part in order to meet the minimum standards.

  • Curriculum. You will be asked to demonstrate a physical, intellectual and spirited understanding of asana and pranayama, teaching methods, and core experience of yoga practice, as well as the philosophy and essence of yoga.
  • Practice Teaching. During the practice teaching sessions you will be expected to demonstrate an increasing ability to practice, guide and teach a guided class.
  • Attitude. The spirit of cooperation and mutual respect is the underpinning of our training. Your ability to work collaboratively with others in developing yourself as a practitioner and teacher is fundamental to certification.
  • Attendance. You are expected to be alert, involved, and punctual at all sessions. If you need to leave early or are unable to attend a session, speak with George Hughes as soon as possible.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga begins again on Sunday, March 18 from 1-2 p.m. (There will be no prenatal yoga on April 1 or 8).  Join Gina for a series of classes designed specifically for the journey of pregnancy and childbirth.  $12 for a drop-in or $40 for 4 classes.

Sundays from 1:00-2:00. Participants are urged to eat something light approximately 1 hour prior to class.
